Spinal Cord Stimulation: Manuel’s Story
Manuel‘s pain story:
My pain resulted from my military service and injury, sustained during training and wartime deployment. Since 1984, I have struggled with pain. In 2003, I retired from military military, and became a schoolteacher; however, I had to discontinue my second career due to pain. Before SCS, I could never manage my pain effectively.
Manuel‘s SCS experience:
SCS has allowed me to manage my pain and provide me with a higher quality of life. I realize how much of my life revolved around pain. With SCS, about 60 to 75% of my pain is relieved. As a result, I can focus and enjoy watching shows. I sit on my computer, right, and manage my hobbies. I have a lot more movement and can sleep through the night.
What would Manuel say to others who are considering a CS?
Give it a shot! I’m thankful I did. Even during the trial, I could feel a difference.
Clinical studies show that Boston Scientific spinal cord stimulation (SCS) therapy provides effective long-term relief from pain:
- 90% of Boston Scientific SES trial participants reported a successful experience and opted to get the implanted device
- 95% of Boston Scientific SCS patients would recommend it to others
- 85% of patients in another study reported continued pain, relief and 50% or more two years after the procedure
