Lumbar Pain / Lower Back Pain

Overview

You are at greater risk for developing lower back pain if you smoke, are overweight, do not exercise, have a job that requires lifting and use poor lifting technique and if you’re past middle age. Causes of lower back pain are numerous: injury, failed back surgery, nerve damage, muscle or ligament strain, disc degeneration, arthritis, osteoporosis, pressure on the spinal cord, and joint degeneration. Causes are numerous, but so are the therapies that can help reduce or eliminate your pain.

How Our Doctors Diagnose

In addition to a physical examination and thorough discussion of the pain you’re experiencing and your medical history, we have an array of tests and imaging to help diagnose the source of your pain: x-ray, MRI, CT scans, blood test (to detect infection or viruses), bone scan, discography, and nerve studies such as electromyography.

The environment was relaxed, pleasant, and professional...

Been going to Spine and Joint for the last few years and my experiences have been positive. Recently had a procedure done and the environment was relaxed, pleasant, and professional. This helps ease some of the stress and edginess that comes with most medical procedures. Thank you S&J.
