Attention WellMed HMO Policy Holders

Dear Patients with WellMed Insurance,

Effective October 1, 2024, WellMed determined that Spine & Joint Pain Specialists (SJPS) is now considered an OUT OF NETWORK provider for the following plans:

AARP Medicare Advantage Patriot (HMO)
AARP Medicare Advantage (HMO)
Cigna Preferred Medicare (HMO)
Cigna Total Care (HMO D-SNP)
Cigna Fundamental Medicare (HMO)
Cigna Preferred Savings Medicare (HMO)
Amerivantage Classic (HMO
Amerivantage Dual Coordination (HMO D-SNP)
Amerivantage Select Plus (HMO)
Amerivantage Classic Plus (HMO)
Amerivantage Dual Coordination Plus (HMO D-SNP)
Amerivantage Dual Secure Plus (HMO D-SNP)
Medicare Advantage Secure Horizons (HMO)

You have three options at this point:

Continue with SJPS as your provider and pay the cash-pay fee for service
Change your current WellMed insurance plan
Contact your WellMed PCP to refer you to an in-network Pain Management specialist

The following three plans MAY be managed by WellMed or could be directly managed by HUMANA:

Humana Gold Plus (HMO)
Humana Gold Plus (HMO D-SNP)
Humana Gold Plus – Diabetes and Heart (HMO)

Please review the back of your card to see who the managing plan is. If it is HUMANA, you are not affected, and we can still provide care.

If it states WellMed, we are out of network and the above three options apply.

We can continue to provide care to all WellMed PPO patients. The copays may be more expensive since the visit will be processed as an out of network provider. Check your plan.

We hope we can continue to provide your care under a WellMed PPO plan (as an out of network provider), another insurance plan (non-WellMed) or as a cash pay patient.

During the last few years, we have tried multiple times to become an in-network provider with WellMed. Regrettably, WellMed has continued to deny SJPS entrance into their network. We are contacting you to finalize your decision regarding your care with us.
